Destination Maakalla islet

Maakalla is an atmospheric small islet 16 kilometres from the coastline of Kalajoki. The islet has literally risen from the sea in the 14th century and has become a fishermen's base until this day. On the islet you can visit an old wooden church and enjoy the fresh sea air in an idyllic fishermen's village. The nature in Maakalla is barren but beautiful, as well as unique.

In the summer of 2021 a new museum will be opened in Maakalla!

There is also often smoked whitefish available for purchase, by a local fisherman.

SeaKalajoki takes you to Maakalla from May until October, on request. Welcome aboard!
